Vol VII – Lest We Forget – Nestle

This book was published by Nestlé after the First World War.  It was created after the Great War of 1914-1918 (as it was known at the time) to show:

“The feelings of pride with which all associated with the Nestle & Anglo‑Swiss Condensed Milk Company regard the service and sacrifice of the 1,213 employees who answered the call for their country in the Great War.  In the armies, naval and air forces of Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, Italy, Servia, Greece and Roumania, they fought and conquered, and the achievements have left a priceless heritage to those who are “carrying on” in the sphere of peaceful activity.”

Spellings of Servia (Serbia) and Roumania (Romania) are as used at the time of original publication.

The book contains photographs of all those Nestle employees worldwide who died and those who were decorated.  It also lists all those who served.

The original, that was scanned by Andricks Services for this website, is in the possession of the Tutbury Museum, Duke Street, Tutbury, Staffordshire.

Another original copy of “Lest We Forget” is in the possession of the Petrena Williams of Dublin, granddaughter of Frank Hood who is one of the fallen in the book. The front cover and inside page scans of that book were used in this book as the Tutbury Museum copy did not have a cover.

Another original copy may reside in the Derbyshire Record Office, catalogue no. D6318/5/1

From this scan, a copy has been provided to Nestlé who did not have a copy.  Click the link below to view the book – note that this is a large file (being scanned from the original) and therefore may be slightly slow.
